Interior design category added to popular annual awards

The New Design Britain Awards 2015 – recognising a new generation of talented designers – were launched earlier this month.

Next year’s awards will, for the first time, have a dedicated category for interior designers. This will sit alongside existing awards for the best furniture, accessories, fabrics and surfaces.

A panel of expert judges will sort through the entries and shortlist 24 of the most promising individuals.

Live judging will then take place at the May Design Series event, at London’s ExCeL Exhibition Centre, with the winners offered the chance of a work placement with some of the biggest names in the industry.

Design writer and photographer Barbara Chandler, who will be among the judges, said: “The awards offer emerging designers a fantastic chance to display their talent through the May Design Series. For me it’s such an exciting opportunity to showcase exciting new British interior design talent.”

Allie Little, New Design Britain’s programme curator, added: “With the industry crying out for fresh new designs and innovative products, now really is the time for design gradates to shine. New Design Britain provides the perfect platform for graduates to transition into the interiors industry.”
